A few bits and pieces.

I got a bit excited with the pack of unarmoured Normans and really liked the Romano Brit archers on horseback.. So with a bit of surgery i turned the normans and a couple of Saxons into late Roman skirmishers with Javelins and made an element of horse archers for the same army.. Hope you like what i did with them

On Monday I also received my order with the odd packs of 100 years war and wars of the Roses figures.. Here's my reaction lol

It's odd really but one of the reasons I made myself dig into this project was to reduce the lead mountain. Those Romano Brits had been in my to do box for I think 7 years.. End result. I now have more of your figures unpainted than I did when I started. How does that happen for gods sake?

Very nice conversions. I can see the surgery went well on the Normans and Saxons! :D Hope the fingers aren't too sore! ;)

Oh that's a lesson I learnt very early in my conversion work. Before starting I put elastoplasts on the thumb and first 2 fingers of each hand.. It just stops the first rush of the scalpel.. Saved me a few very bad cuts that technique..

finally decided to accept that history has been re-written and mounted my saxon warlord on a cavalry base.

Very pleased with it. The basis for the conversions was the Romano-Brit cavalry and the horse archers.

Very, very nice conversion work. The painting not bad either! ;) The shields are really impressive, a mixture of painting and transfers at a guess?

Yes indeed after spending a small fortune sampling various 15mm sheets from Little Big men studios I found a sheet for Essex vikings that although a bit big for the cast shields, they could be made to fit new card ones. So the fancy patterns are decals and the simple geometric ones painted. Nice too because the mix of large round shields with decals and the smaller cast shields painted makes a nice variation and gives an even more irregular appearance.
