Onward into Pictland

Post by curlerman »

I guess I finally gave up trying to convince both Kallistra and the other manufacturers to make some enemies for my Late Romans and decided to take matters into my own hands. I have started on the Pictish army for my period. I've sourced the bulk of the figures from the various kallistra ranges but am stuck on a few things. Decided to start with some nobles. I couldn't find any figures suitable in your ranges so I decided to use a couple of armoured saxons and rescue the Barbarian horde from the bin. It also required me to make my first ever attempts at converting and sculpting in green stuf. To say I was nervous was an understatement. You can see the full effort and my thoughts on the process on my blog on

The decals I commisioned as specials from LBM and they are magnificent.
I really like the Barbarian with his arm raised, really enjoyed that conversion

here's the end result

PS I really like the WW1 stuff and the AWI they are soo tempting me at the moment. Must resisit

Excellent work, perhaps Kallistra will use them for masters so we may all battle with them!
