Re: Hex based Napoleonic naval scenario (1200 scale)

Hi Norm, Steve has use a sponge and white model paint thinned with water to create the sea effect on the blue hex boards. Since this battle report he has done more work on the boards and they look even more impressive. I will post a report on the most recent game with plenty of photos of the new boa...

H&H Medieval: Lancastrian v Yorkist

For this 250 points per side War of The Roses encounter, the Yorkist army was entirely made up of retinue troops and the Lancaster army was more numerous but cheaper troop types. The Yorkists had 3 units of mounted men-at-arms, the Lancastrians 2. The Yorkists also had 2 more units of retinue longbo...

Hex based Napoleonic naval scenario (1200 scale)

This encounter pitted the British fleet of 8 ships against a Spanish fleet of 8 ships, both fleets divided into 2 squadrons of 4 ships. This was the second club game using a set of naval rules developed by Steve. IMG_1548.JPG IMG_1546.JPG This was my first game using these rules and it was a pleasur...

Re: H&HM 100 Years War English v Medieval Korean

The last time the Koreans hit the table in a club game was against a War of The Roses Yorkist army with plenty of mounted men-at-arms. However, the terrain was much more open and Tony used the Korean cavalry to shoot to death the Yorkist cavalry before dealing with the infantry. In this game by losi...

H&HM 100 Years War English v Medieval Korean

I suppose in wrestling terms this is very much a ‘catchweight’ contest between two very different armies – the longbow and heavy knights of the English v the mobile archers of the Korean cavalry and spear and firearms of their infantry. IMG_1511.JPG The terrain pieces were chosen and placed by Andre...

Re: WWII Armour/infantry scenario

All the miniatures are 15mm and are from Dave Mac's collection. Dave has modelled all this Hexon terrain using his own flock mixtures for both ground cover and hedge (bocage) cover. I think the terrain looks superb and is a real pleasure to play with. All the elements are modular and can therefore b...

WWII Armour/infantry scenario

Dave created a scenario to introduce armour into a hex-based adaptation of the Battleground rule system and see how this ‘combined arms’ game played out. Tim, Steve and I had 4 infantry sections, support from a 3 inch mortar, 2 Vickers HMG teams and 5 Cromwell tanks. Our German opponents, Karl, Nige...

Re: battle of Gilly June 15th 1815

I agree with the suggestion about making the crossing of fordable rivers easier. What about; all units must stop in a hex adjacent to a river hex before entering in their next movement phase; spend the next movement phase occupying the river hex during which they fight as if disrupted; they then lea...

WWII: Normandy, Battle in the Bocage!

We have been play-testing and developing a hex based adaptation of the WWII Battlegroup rule system using Dave Mack’s excellent Bocage terrain and his 15mm miniatures. Below is a battle report of one of our British v German encounters. IMG_1397.JPG IMG_1407.JPG In this scenario the German players (M...

HI Uphill bonus. Only one +1 uphill bonus is applied to each combat regardless of the fact there may be 2 or more units uphill of the enemy unit in the hand-to-hand combat. Muultiple attacks Yep, you can used the highest factors from the 2 or more units involved - impact bonus and combat factors fro...
