Using Kallistra to model a Motte

Hi folks, Has anybody ever used double thickness, single hex sloping Kallistra pieces to form a Motte? If you did this, did you find them sufficiently steep? Did you also have a bailey and inside keep on the top etc? If double are not considered steep enough - is it possible for Kallistra to manufac...

Re: Castle Sieges using Kallistra - Your Help Please

Hello again! I have come up with some more sieges and assaults with the "Normans", "Saxons" and "Vikings" H and H. These are post 1066 Battle of Hastings (William II of France v Harold of England) - these are in the first ten years - so for the rebels the Hordes and Heroes Saxon Army would be ok - q...

Re: Double round tower gate entrance

Hi Paul Many thanks for all the replies. An initial thought that came to me about rules for the double round tower gate house is that the base i.e. the two hexagons the towers stand on could be considered and modelled as a single zone (filling up the crack between the two hexes). This would allow th...

Round bases for Hordes and Heroes Command

Hello everybody, I am currently building my Hordes and Heroes historical figure command packs and wondering what people use for the round command figure bases. The packs don't come with bases and on the Kallistra website there are only rectangle ones in the bases section. Hope to hear from you soon ...

Re: Modelling castles

Hello again,

I have just dry brushed my castle - not that difficult - just using a dry brush and paint sparingly.

It has made the colour of all the walls more consistent - great tip Sally!

Attached are some pictures - enjoy!

Best wishes

Graham

Double round tower gate entrance

Hello Everybody I am considering using two Kallistra round towers mounted onto two adjacent brown hexes glued together. Then creating a new piece using some fimo to join the two towers to create a new style of gatehouse. I am thinking if the towers are slightly displaced from centre then it might be...

Re: Map of Harlech Castle using Kallistra

Second attempt at designing Harlech Castle with Kallistra - Now the hexes are aligned the other way so I can use the main arch as the Barbican for the front entrance. - The main gate house has been replaced with two of the round towers which gives it the correct architectural feel in my opinion alt...

Map of Harlech Castle using Kallistra

Hello Everybody I have been busy drawing a map of Harlech castle for the siege of Harlech during the Wars of the Roses (1468) (using Kallistra). The castle was held by the Lancastrians for 7 years before it fell to the Yorkists. A siege memorialised in the song of Harlech. I have managed to keep the...

Re: Castle Sieges using Kallistra - Your Help Please

Hi Dane Thanks for the reply - the list is growing! Do you know of any sieges in asia? Best wishes Graham English Civil War Sieges (1642-1651) During the English Civil War there were approximately 300 sieges of various kinds, some lasting only days while a select few were major actions involving tho...

Re: Modelling castles

Hello Everybody, I have now finished painting and basing my castle pieces on brown hexes. I am considering adding some flock soon. I have built various castle configurations with the pieces as seen in the pictures below. I would like to replicate roughly some actual castles using the available Kalli...
