Re: WWII Armour/infantry scenario

All the miniatures are 15mm and are from Dave Mac's collection. Dave has modelled all this Hexon terrain using his own flock mixtures for both ground cover and hedge (bocage) cover. I think the terrain looks superb and is a real pleasure to play with. All the elements are modular and can therefore b...

WWII Armour/infantry scenario

Dave created a scenario to introduce armour into a hex-based adaptation of the Battleground rule system and see how this ‘combined arms’ game played out. Tim, Steve and I had 4 infantry sections, support from a 3 inch mortar, 2 Vickers HMG teams and 5 Cromwell tanks. Our German opponents, Karl, Nige...

Re: battle of Gilly June 15th 1815

I agree with the suggestion about making the crossing of fordable rivers easier. What about; all units must stop in a hex adjacent to a river hex before entering in their next movement phase; spend the next movement phase occupying the river hex during which they fight as if disrupted; they then lea...

WWII: Normandy, Battle in the Bocage!

We have been play-testing and developing a hex based adaptation of the WWII Battlegroup rule system using Dave Mack’s excellent Bocage terrain and his 15mm miniatures. Below is a battle report of one of our British v German encounters. IMG_1397.JPG IMG_1407.JPG In this scenario the German players (M...

Re: Four more queries

HI Uphill bonus. Only one +1 uphill bonus is applied to each combat regardless of the fact there may be 2 or more units uphill of the enemy unit in the hand-to-hand combat. Muultiple attacks Yep, you can used the highest factors from the 2 or more units involved - impact bonus and combat factors fro...

Re: Four more queries

Hi Uphill. The uphill bonus (+1) is applied if one or more units are uphill of the enemy unit. In a multi-unit, 2 or 3 onto 1 combat only 1 of the units neeeds to be uphill to qualify for the +1 bonus. Combined arms Yes, only count the fron 2 stands in hand-to-hand combat. In the case of the popular...

Re: More H&H Medieval queries

Hi Robert, Broken ground Yes, the cavalry unit will only loose its inpact bonus when fighting a unit occupying a broken ground hex. Once the cavalry have entered the broken ground they fight 'as if disrupted' i.e. they cannot count their number of stands in hand-to-hand combat. They might later beco...

Re: More H&H Medieval queries

Hi Robert, Stakes, once planted only apply to two hex sides, usually the front two. The other 4 hex sides remain open. When a line of point facing units have a line of stakes in front of them they are still open to attack from the side or rear. Shooting Shooters can shoot as a priority target any en...

Re: H&H Medieval queries

I wanted to check with the text on the updated rules on disengagement. The ability of any unit to disengage from combat does impact on the way the H&H system plays and for that reason none of the current army lists give any units this ability. The revised rules can again reserve this ability for...

Re: H&H Medieval queries

Hi, Skirmishing units, one stand per hex, cannot be shot at by enemy artillery or shooters unless in hex-to-hex contact. This contact usually only occurs when skirmish stands are unable to evade. Missile troops cannot shoot through skirmishers which would be in effect in hex-to-hex contact with an e...
