Re: Romano British V Teutonic Order Trilogy

Battle Three After two defeats to the Romano British the Teutonic Order were definitely out for revenge or at least redemption! The terrain, especially the for areas had played a very important role in both the British wins – the Teutonic heavy horse had not had the opportunity to charge their oppo...

Re: Romano British V Teutonic Order Trilogy

Battle Two After the defeat of the Teutonic Order the previous week they were certainly out for revenge – the same armies would face each other and this time Andre would layout the terrain. As he selected and placed each hill wood and road, we noble commanders of the Brits could see that if we coul...

Romano British V Teutonic Order Trilogy

Battle One For this 4 player game this Romano British army was deliberately chosen to compete with the Teutonic order – the cavalry, horse archers and chariots would hopefully provide vital mobility and enough shooters to trouble the Teutonic Knights. The Teutonic army had the better class of troop...

releasing dismountedRe: Early WW1 Austro Hungarians

We will be producing the three main types of Austro-Hungarian cavalry- Dragoons, Ulhans and Hussars and I'm sure, given suffiecient demand, the dismounted troopers and differentiated horse holder packs will follow.

Re: Samurai list questions !

I've been thinking about your suggestion about the 'betrayal' idea in the command rules and it reminded me of the recent Battle of Bosworth game (see battle reports section). It would be very easy to construct a samurai battle senario with similar opportunities for treachery and betrayal - it would ...

Re: Ottoman Turks v Samurai!

We've tried all ways of selecting terrain for our games over the years. Current practice is to grap aneutral third party - another none playing club member usually. Give them a box with a good selection of hills, forests, hills, escarpments and roads, and let them use as much or a little as they wis...

Re: Samurai list questions !

Hi The current samurai list is aimed at the early period from about1300 when the bow was a principle samurai weapon both for the foot and mounted - the samurai had mostly abandoned the bow by the time of the Onin War (1467-1477) in favour of the naginata and Yari. This was a gradual process over tim...

Re: Battle of Bosworth

You are very welcome to join us for for our next big game. Mick and I had to pool our H&H collections for this one and the result was quite impressive, and the mis-trust and intrigue between the various players made for a really enjoyeable game.

Re: Mongols v Feudal English!

The terrain is a key a ingredient in defeating horse archers - woodland, built-up areas, broken ground, streams etc. all impede their mobility and shooting. In open areas I have found that it is possible to out shoot them if you can maintain a straight line of shooters, advancing slowly with support...

Re: Mongols v Feudal English!

Yep! Totally agree, Norm, the terrain was the deciding factor in that the English were forced to fight the battle in open, Mongol friendly terrain and even with a tight formation the mostly 'C' class English troops could not win the shooting battle against their opponents. However, with a more fores...
