Orders of battle - Mons Campaign

Hi All; I have been steadily adding to my lead pile to try some early WW1 gaming - namely part of the Mons campaign. This was inspired by seeing the 1914 battle displayed at Newark back in February. Sand bags

anyone any thoughts on making scale sandbags? I thought of salt dough or miliput, in strips, then cut/pinched with a knife. Anyone tried this or have a better alternative??

If you are into heraldry, Freezywater publications (available from Lance & Longbow stand at shows) have a superb range of heraldic banners and flags. They also have a magazine devoted to the era. Lots of uniform info available via them.

I can confirm that a brown cover was worn over the kilt, it was a sackcloth colour
